Interview
Almost the entire airspace of India is monitored by radars from a Czech factory in Pardubice. “This year, we also signed a contract to deliver five radars to Vietnam, and we will be installing additional equipment in Albania,” lists the latest orders Vladimír Vojáček, CEO of Eldis Pardubice. Five years after the pandemic, the company is experiencing an unprecedented boom — it has doubled its production and is hiring more than a hundred employees. In the interview, Vojáček describes current trends in airspace monitoring and explains why it is advantageous to manufacture all components and software in the Czech Republic.

You became the CEO of Eldis Pardubice shortly after Donald Trump was elected the new president of the United States. How did his policies affect your company’s operations?

His policies mainly affected us in the area of component supplies. With his constant imposing, repealing, and re-imposing of tariffs, he created chaos among suppliers. Some tried to stockpile in advance, others kept changing their prices. Nobody knew what would ultimately apply, which disrupted the entire supply chain and, in some cases, extended delivery times. However, Trump’s tariff policy did not affect us directly, as we do not currently export to the United States. In any case, we would welcome greater stability, as we plan on a three- to five-year horizon and need market conditions to be more predictable.
